“Where is the nearest…” and “what is the best… near…” are among the most common questions an assistant gets, and answering them needs a live business index, not a model’s memory. Through AgentKey your agent searches places with the same three calls — find_tools, describe_tool, execute_tool — using Google Places and Maps results through Serper, or Brave’s place search with its point-of-interest details and generated descriptions.

What you can ask

  • “Find coffee shops near Shibuya station.”
  • “List pharmacies within 2 km of this latitude and longitude.”
  • “What are the top ramen places on Google Maps around this coordinate at zoom 14?”
  • “Give me the address, phone number and website of the Apple Store on Regent Street.”
  • “Describe these three restaurants from the search results in one sentence each.”
  • “Search for dentists around ‘Austin, Texas, United States’, second page.”
  • “Which businesses, streets and addresses match ‘Marienplatz’ in Munich?”

What’s covered

Google Places and Maps results
  • Places by keyword, biased by a country code, interface language and a free-text location such as “New York, United States”
  • Maps results centred on a latitude, longitude and zoom level
  • Result count, page numbers and a time filter
Brave place search
  • Places, businesses, cities, addresses and streets around a location, given as a latitude / longitude with a radius or as a named location
  • A country and result language, metric or imperial units, and a per-call count
Brave point-of-interest details
  • Extra information for up to 20 points of interest in one request
  • AI-generated descriptions for places
  • Both take location ids from a Brave web search run with the locations result filter; the ids are short-lived, so fetch and use them in the same session
What comes back
  • Each place as the engine serves it: name, address and position, with any ratings, categories, hours or contact details the engine attaches

How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the engine:
Always describe_tool before executing — Google Maps results take the centre as ll in the form @lat,lng,zoomz, Brave takes latitude, longitude and radius, and the POI tools need ids from an earlier Brave web search.
Building with code? Place and local search are available through the catalog tools above; there is no fixed-contract Scenario Method for them yet. For weather-oriented POIs see Weather location lookup; for attractions and taxis see Attractions and local transport.

FAQ

Google results accept any country code and a free-text location anywhere Google Maps has coverage. Brave place search takes a fixed list of countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
Every call goes to the engine at request time. Brave POI ids are short-lived and belong to the search that produced them, so do not store them between sessions.
No. These tools find and describe places; they do not route between them. For taxi quotes between two places see Attractions and local transport.
