# Hotel search for AI agents

> Booking.com hotel search: destinations, availability and prices for your dates, rooms, photos, facilities, policies, review scores and guest Q&A.

Finding a hotel is a conversation — a city, dates, who is travelling, a
budget, then the questions a guest actually asks: what are the rooms like, is
breakfast included, what do recent guests say, can children stay. Through
AgentKey your agent runs that whole conversation against Booking.com data with
the same three calls — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool`. Every
operation is a lookup: your agent searches, prices and reads, and never places
a reservation.

## What you can ask

* *"Find hotels in Lisbon for two adults, 12 to 15 November, under 150 euros a night, sorted by review score."*
* *"Which hotels within 5 km of the Colosseum are available 3 to 6 May?"*
* *"Show me the room types and prices at this hotel for two adults and a three-year-old."*
* *"What are the check-in times and the cancellation and pet policies here?"*
* *"Pull the latest reviews and the score breakdown for this property."*
* *"东京新宿附近，12 月 24 到 26 日，两大一小，有哪些酒店？"*
* *"Does this hotel take cards, or is payment at the property?"*
* *"Is there any night between 1 and 30 March with a room free at this hotel?"*

## What's covered

**Finding the destination**

* Destination search by city, district, landmark, region or country name,
  returning the destination id and type the hotel search needs
* An address or place name turned into latitude and longitude; cities near a
  coordinate for side trips

**Hotel search**

* By destination for check-in and check-out dates, number of adults, each
  child's age and number of rooms
* Around a coordinate with a radius from 10 to 500 km
* Minimum and maximum price, category filters and sort orders, with the valid
  filter and sort values available from their own lookups
* Currency, response language, metric or imperial distances, Celsius or
  Fahrenheit, and page numbers

**Property details**

* Full details for your dates and party; description and general
  information; facilities; photos
* Policies; payment features; children and extra-bed policies

**Rooms and availability**

* The room list, and the room list with live availability and prices for the
  stay
* Availability across a date range for a hotel, to find free nights

**Reviews and Q\&A**

* The review-score breakdown; guest reviews and tips with sort options and
  paging; the filter metadata for reviews
* Questions guests have asked the property, with the answers

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="hotels in Lisbon for two adults, 12 to 15 November")
find_tools(q="东京新宿附近 12 月 24 到 26 日的酒店")
find_tools(prefix="travel/booking")        # browse all Booking.com tools
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

The tools chain: destination search gives a destination id, the hotel search
gives hotel ids, and the detail, room, policy and review tools take a hotel
id. Always `describe_tool` before executing — it shows which id each tool
expects and the date format it wants.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Building with code?** The same capability is available as fixed-contract
> [Scenario Methods](/api-reference/scenario/overview):
> [`travel.hotel.search`](/api-reference/scenario/methods/travel-hotel-search)
> searches hotels around a coordinate for dates and guests and returns a
> normalized hotel page, and
> [`travel.location.search`](/api-reference/scenario/methods/travel-location-search)
> finds the destination first.

## FAQ

> **Does it book the room?**
>
> No. Every operation is read-only — search, prices, availability, details
> and reviews. No reservation, hold or payment is ever made.

> **Which currencies and languages?**
>
> Prices can be requested in any currency on Booking.com's currency list and
> text in any language on its language list; both lists are available as
> lookups (see
> [Attractions and local transport](/capabilities/travel/attractions)).
> Distances and temperatures can be metric or imperial.

> **How current are prices and availability?**
>
> Fetched at request time for the dates and party you give. Rates and
> availability change constantly, so re-run the search before quoting a
> final price.
