# TikTok data for AI agents

> TikTok video search, detail and comments, creator profiles and followers, hashtags, music charts, trending searches, live rooms and Shop data through AgentKey.

TikTok is where short-form trends start, and it is notoriously hard to read
programmatically: the official Research API is restricted to approved academics,
and the app signs every request. Through AgentKey your agent reads public TikTok
data the same way it reads everything else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`,
`execute_tool` — with several providers behind the scenes, so one route failing
does not stop the task.

## What you can ask

* *"Find TikTok videos about 'glass skin' posted this week in the US."*
* *"Pull this creator's latest videos with their view, like and share counts."*
* *"What are the comments under this video saying — any recurring complaints?"*
* *"Which hashtags and search terms are trending on TikTok today?"*
* *"What is on the TikTok music chart right now?"*
* *"Is this creator live, and what products are pinned in the room?"*
* *"Show me the reviews for this TikTok Shop product."*
* *"Which ads are in the Top Ads spotlight for the beauty industry?"*

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="TikTok videos about glass skin posted this week in the US")
find_tools(prefix="social/tiktok")         # browse everything for TikTok
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work, and aliases resolve (TikTok, 海外抖音 and
TT all land here; 抖音 alone routes to [Douyin](/capabilities/social/douyin)).
Always `describe_tool` before executing — parameters and per-call costs differ
between providers.

## FAQ

> **Do I need a TikTok developer or Research API account?**
>
> No. AgentKey holds the upstream access; your agent only needs your AgentKey
> subscription.

> **Can I control which country's TikTok I see?**
>
> Partly. Post search accepts a region, and one video-detail route takes a
> country parameter, so results can be pinned to a market. Trending lists and
> charts return what TikTok serves for the route's default region unless the
> tool exposes a region option — check `describe_tool`.

> **Is TikTok the same as Douyin here?**
>
> No. They are separate platforms with separate tools; Douyin (the mainland
> China app) has [its own page](/capabilities/social/douyin).
