# Instagram data for AI agents

> Instagram posts and Reels, comments, profiles and followers, stories and highlights, hashtag, location and music feeds through AgentKey — no Graph API needed.

Instagram is where brands, creators and trends are made visible, and it is one
of the least agent-friendly platforms: the Graph API only covers accounts you
own, and the website demands a login after a few pages. Through
AgentKey your agent reads public Instagram data the same way it reads
everything else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — with several
providers behind the scenes, so one route failing does not stop the task.

## What you can ask

* *"What are the latest posts from @nike and how is each one performing?"*
* *"Pull the comments on this Reel and summarize the sentiment."*
* *"Find recent posts under #sustainablefashion."*
* *"Who follows this account, and which accounts are similar to it?"*
* *"What is being posted from Shibuya Crossing right now?"*
* *"Show me this creator's current stories and highlight reels."*
* *"Which posts use this audio track?"*
* *"Translate the top comments on this post into English."*

## What's covered

**Posts and Reels**

* Post detail by shortcode, media ID or URL; oEmbed info
* Likes on a post; a user's posts, Reels, reposts and tagged posts
* Reels search by keyword or hashtag; a recommended Reels feed
* Translation of a caption or a comment, or a batch of comments at once

**Comments**

* Top-level comments with popular or newest sorting, paginated
* Replies under a comment

**Users**

* Profile by username or user ID, "about" info, former usernames
* Followers and following lists
* Similar and related profiles; username → user ID

**Stories and highlights**

* A user's current stories, their highlight reels and the stories inside each
  highlight

**Hashtags, locations and music**

* Posts under a hashtag; hashtag search
* Location info, posts at a location, nearby content; locations by city or by
  coordinates, cities by country
* Music search and the posts using a given audio

**Search and explore**

* Global search; search for users, hashtags and places
* Explore page sections and the explore feed
* Shortcode ↔ media ID conversion; shortcode extraction from a URL

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="latest Instagram posts from @nike with engagement")
find_tools(prefix="social/instagram")      # browse everything for Instagram
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work, and the platform's usual English and Chinese names all land here. Always `describe_tool` before executing — parameters and
per-call costs differ between providers.

## FAQ

> **Do I need a Meta developer app or a business account?**
>
> No. AgentKey holds the upstream access; your agent only needs your AgentKey
> subscription.

> **Can it read private accounts or direct messages?**
>
> No. Only public posts, Reels, stories, profiles and relationships are
> available.

> **How fresh is the data?**
>
> Every call goes to the platform at request time. Stories and highlights
> reflect what is live at that moment, so a story that has expired will not
> be returned.
