# Image and video search for AI agents

> Image and video search by keyword from Google via Serper and from Brave, with country, language, safe-search, recency and paging controls.

Agents increasingly work with media: finding a reference image, checking what
a product looks like, locating a tutorial video, gathering visual sources for
a report. Through AgentKey your agent searches images and videos with the same
three calls — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — using Google
image and video results through Serper or Brave's own image and video search.

## What you can ask

* *"Find images of the Shanghai Tower at night."*
* *"Show me product photos of the Sony WH-1000XM6 from the past month."*
* *"Find videos explaining how transformers work, published this week."*
* *"Get 100 images for 'minimalist logo design' with safe search on."*
* *"Search for 'how to fix a bike chain' videos in German."*
* *"Which videos about AgentKey have appeared in the last 24 hours?"*
* *"Page through image results for 'Art Deco posters' and keep the ones hosted on museum sites."*

## What's covered

**Images**

* Google image results by keyword with a country code, interface language,
  free-text location, result count, page number and time filter
* Brave image search from its own index with a country and result language,
  spell correction, and up to 200 images in one call
* Safe search on Brave images is strict by default and can be turned off

**Videos**

* Google video results by keyword with the same country, language, location,
  count, paging and time-filter controls
* Brave video search with a freshness filter — the last 24 hours, 7 days, 31
  days or 365 days, or a custom date range — an offset for paging, and safe
  search off, moderate or strict
* A POST variant of Brave video search for long or multi-line queries

**What comes back**

* Each result as the engine serves it: title, the source page URL and a
  thumbnail, with whatever media URL or embed reference the engine attaches
* Results are links and metadata, not downloaded files

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the engine:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="images of the Shanghai Tower at night")
find_tools(q="videos explaining transformers from the past week")
find_tools(prefix="search/serper")        # Google image and video results
find_tools(prefix="search/brave")         # Brave images and videos
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Always `describe_tool` before executing — Google results use `gl` / `hl` and
`tbs`, Brave uses `country` / `search_lang` and `freshness`, and per-call
costs differ.

## FAQ

> **Which regions and languages?**
>
> Google results take any Google country and interface-language code plus a
> free-text location. Brave takes its own country and result-language codes.
> Queries can be written in any language.

> **How fresh are the results?**
>
> Every call goes to the engine at request time. Google results accept a
> past-hour to past-year time filter; Brave video search accepts a freshness
> window or a custom date range.

> **Does it download the images or videos?**
>
> No. Results are URLs and metadata. To read the page a result points to,
> pass the URL to a [scrape tool](/capabilities/scrape/url-to-markdown).
