# FX and commodities data for AI agents

> Live exchange rates, daily to monthly FX and crypto series, WTI, Brent, natural gas, metals, grains and softs, Shanghai Gold and China futures for AI agents.

Currency and commodity prices turn up in almost every analysis — converting a
revenue line, pricing an input cost, hedging a position — yet they come from
different vendors than equities and in different shapes. Through AgentKey your
agent gets a spot rate, a 20-year FX series or a Brent price history with the
same three calls — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — with
AlphaVantage behind the scenes for global FX, crypto and commodities, Tushare
for China FX, futures and Shanghai Gold, and Finnhub for symbol reference.

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

Name the pair or the commodity and the interval you want. Always
`describe_tool` before executing — currency-code and interval parameters and
per-call costs differ between providers.

> **Building with code?** There is no dedicated Scenario Method for FX or
> commodities yet; the capability is available through the catalog today. See
> the [Scenario Methods overview](/api-reference/scenario/overview) for the
> fixed-contract surface that does exist.

> **Is the exchange rate live?**
>
> The currency exchange rate tool returns a realtime rate for the pair you
> name, including crypto pairs. The FX, crypto and commodity time series are
> periodic — daily, weekly or monthly — and `describe_tool` lists the
> intervals each one supports.

> **How much FX history is there?**
>
> Daily FX series reach back 20+ years on the AlphaVantage route. For the
> commodity series and the China routes, `describe_tool` documents the
> range and any row limits per call.

> **Where do crypto prices live — here or under Crypto?**
>
> Here you get exchange-style OHLC series for a digital currency on a named
> market, alongside FX. Token metadata, on-chain holders, wallets and
> derivatives live under the Crypto category.
