# Crypto projects and funds data for AI agents

> Crypto project profiles, coin categories, DeFi protocol TVL and revenue rankings, bridge volume, VC fund profiles and portfolios through AgentKey.

Behind every token is a project, and behind most projects a set of funds.
Pulling a project's team, funding, contracts and protocol metrics together —
then checking who invested and what else they back — usually means stitching a
data room from several sites. Through AgentKey your agent gets project
profiles, DeFi metrics and fund portfolios the same way it gets everything
else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — with Surf and
CoinMarketCap behind the scenes. For RootData's deeper fundraising and investor
records, see
[Crypto projects and VCs](/capabilities/business/crypto-projects-and-vcs) under
Business.

## What you can ask

* *"Give me a full profile of this project: team, funding, tokenomics and contracts."*
* *"Which DeFi protocols have the highest TVL right now?"*
* *"Plot Aave's daily TVL over the past year."*
* *"Which bridges moved the most volume last month?"*
* *"Who is in Paradigm's portfolio, and when did they invest?"*
* *"Rank the top-tier crypto VC funds by number of portfolio projects."*
* *"Which coins are in the AI category on CoinMarketCap?"*
* *"这个项目拿过哪些融资，投资方是谁？"*

## What's covered

**Project profiles**

* Aggregated project profile with selectable sections: overview (description,
  chains, exchanges), token info (price, market cap, supply), tokenomics,
  funding, team, contracts, social and TGE status
* Project search by keyword, returning name, description, chains and logo
* Coin categories — the full category list, and one category with its
  paginated list of coins

**DeFi protocol metrics**

* Protocol leaderboard — Aave, Uniswap, Lido and the rest — ranked by TVL,
  fees, revenue, volume or users
* Historical time series for a single protocol metric: TVL, volume, fees,
  revenue or users
* Bridge protocols ranked by USD volume over a time range
* Individual yield pools ranked by APY or TVL are on the
  [DEX and derivatives](/capabilities/crypto/dex-and-derivatives) page

**Funds**

* Fund profile: description, jurisdiction, portfolio count, social links,
  team members with roles and recent research
* Fund portfolio as investment rounds, newest first — project, date, raise
  amount and lead investor
* Fund ranking by tier or portfolio count; fund search by keyword with each
  fund's top invested projects

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="DeFi protocols ranked by TVL")
find_tools(q="Paradigm 投资组合里有哪些项目")
find_tools(prefix="crypto/project")       # browse projects, DeFi metrics, funds
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work. Always `describe_tool` before
executing — profile tools look up by project UUID, name or symbol, and the
selectable sections and per-call cost are listed there.

> **Building with code?** Project and fund data is available through the

## FAQ

> **Is historical data available?**
>
> Yes for protocol metrics and portfolios — each DeFi metric is a time
> series, bridge rankings take a time range, and fund portfolios list rounds
> by date. Profiles and leaderboards are fetched at request time.

> **How does this differ from the Business category's crypto data?**
>
> This group is protocol- and token-centric: on-chain metrics, tokenomics
> and fund portfolios. RootData, under Business, adds full fundraising-round
> exports, investor and people profiles, ecosystem and tag dictionaries and
> a crypto calendar.

> **How fresh is the data?**
>
> Every call is fetched at request time from the provider; nothing is served
> from a stale archive.
