# People and executive data for AI agents

> Crunchbase people and executives through AgentKey: profiles, jobs, degrees, key-employee changes, layoffs, legal proceedings and event appearances.

Founders and executives are the thread that connects companies: who started
what, who moved where, who backed whom. Crunchbase keeps that professional
record, and through AgentKey your agent reads it the same way it reads
everything else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — resolving a
name to a person identifier and then pulling the profile and its related
cards.

## What you can ask

* *"Who is the CEO of this company, and where did they work before?"*
* *"Which companies has this person founded or invested in?"*
* *"Which key executives joined or left this company recently?"*
* *"Where did this founder study?"*
* *"Which companies announced layoffs this quarter?"*
* *"Is this company involved in any legal proceedings?"*
* *"Which conferences has this founder spoken at?"*
* *"这位创始人的职业履历是什么？"*

## What's covered

**People**

* Person lookup by identifier, with cards for degrees, event appearances,
  founded organizations, jobs, the primary job, participated funding rounds,
  funds and investments, partner funding rounds and investments, and press
  references
* Search people with complex filters expressed in the request body;
  autocomplete a name to a person identifier
* Principals — people and organizations under one entity type — lookup and
  search

**Jobs and roles**

* Job lookup, with cards for the organization and the person; search jobs
* Key employee changes — lookup and search
* Degrees, with cards for the school organization and the person; search
  degrees

**Workforce and legal events**

* Layoffs — lookup and search; layoff predictions
* Legal proceedings — lookup and search
* Event appearances — lookup and search, for speakers and participants at
  events

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="Crunchbase profile of a founder with past jobs and education")
find_tools(q="这家公司最近的高管变动")
find_tools(prefix="business/crunchbase")  # browse every Crunchbase entity type
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work. Always `describe_tool` before
executing — card lookups take a card name, search tools take a structured
query body, and the per-call cost is shown there. Resolve the person
identifier with autocomplete first.

> **Building with code?** The same capability is available as a fixed-contract

> failover:
> [`business.person.get`](/api-reference/scenario/methods/business-person-get)
> returns one normalized person profile by provider id.

## FAQ

> **What personal data does this expose?**
>
> Only Crunchbase's professional record: roles, education, founded
> companies, investments, press mentions and public event appearances. It
> is a business dataset about public professional activity, read at request
> time.

> **Does it cover people in crypto?**
>
> Crunchbase covers founders and executives across industries. For crypto
> KOLs, founders and investors ranked by X influence, see
> [Crypto projects and VCs](/capabilities/business/crypto-projects-and-vcs),
> backed by RootData.

> **Is historical data available?**
>
> Yes. Past jobs and degrees sit on the person record alongside the current
> role, and key-employee changes, layoffs and legal proceedings are
> searchable records rather than a live snapshot.
