# Funding rounds and investor data for AI agents

> Crunchbase funding rounds, investments, investors, funds, acquisitions and IPOs, plus funding, acquisition and IPO predictions, through AgentKey.

Who funded a company, at what stage, alongside whom, and what happened next —
acquisition, IPO or quiet closure — is the core of venture research, and it
lives in Crunchbase's funding, investment and transaction records. Through
AgentKey your agent reads those records the same way it reads everything
else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — from a single round to
a filtered search across every deal.

## What you can ask

* *"Who led Anthropic's latest round, and how much did it raise?"*
* *"List the Series A rounds in climate tech announced this quarter."*
* *"Which investors most often co-invest with a16z?"*
* *"Has this company been acquired, and by whom?"*
* *"Which companies went public this year in Europe?"*
* *"Is this startup likely to raise again soon?"*
* *"Which funds has Sequoia raised, and who invested in them?"*
* *"这家公司最近一轮融资的投资方有哪些？"*

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="funding rounds raised by Anthropic with lead investors")
find_tools(q="今年欧洲上市的公司")
find_tools(prefix="business/crunchbase")  # browse every Crunchbase entity type
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work. Always `describe_tool` before
executing — search tools take a structured query body, card lookups take a
card name, and the per-call cost is shown there. Resolve the organization or
person identifier first.

## FAQ

> **Does this cover crypto fundraising?**
>
> Crunchbase records crypto companies as it does any other. For token
> projects, VC funds and rounds specific to Web3, see
> [Crypto projects and VCs](/capabilities/business/crypto-projects-and-vcs),
> backed by RootData.

> **What are the prediction entities?**
>
> Crunchbase-derived forward-looking signals — whether an organization is
> likely to raise, be acquired, go public, grow, close, lay off staff or
> remain private — exposed as entities you can look up for one company or
> search across many.

> **Is historical data available?**
>
> Yes. Funding rounds, investments, acquisitions and IPOs are dated
> historical records, and the search tools filter on those dates.
> Everything is fetched at request time.
