# Crypto projects and VC data for AI agents

> RootData crypto projects, VCs and people through AgentKey: profiles, fundraising rounds, Hot and Growth indices, ecosystems, tags, calendar and X trends.

Web3 companies are badly covered by traditional business databases: funding is
announced on X, teams are pseudonymous, and a "company" may be a token
contract. RootData tracks that world — projects, VCs, people and their
fundraising — and through AgentKey your agent reads it the same way it reads
everything else — `find_tools`, `describe_tool`, `execute_tool` — resolving a
name, ticker or X handle to a RootData id and then pulling the full record.

## What you can ask

* *"Who invested in this project, and how much has it raised in total?"*
* *"List every crypto funding round over \$50M announced this month."*
* *"Which projects are trending on X this week?"*
* *"Show me Paradigm's portfolio and typical cheque size."*
* *"What is on the crypto calendar next week — unlocks, mainnet launches, conferences?"*
* *"Which DePIN projects on Solana have raised money?"*
* *"Who recently joined or left major crypto companies?"*
* *"这个代币合约对应的项目是谁投的？"*

## What's covered

**Search and profiles**

* Keyword search across projects, VCs and people — by project or protocol
  name, token ticker, fund name, person name or X handle — returning the ids
  the detail lookups need
* Full project profile by id or token contract address: description, ticker,
  total funding raised, investors, tags, social links, Growth and Hot index,
  market cap, FDV, token price and ecosystems
* Full investor profile: description, establishment date, investor category,
  social links, portfolio projects, team members and X heat and influence
  metrics
* Person profile: biography, X and LinkedIn links, education history and X
  heat and influence rankings

**Fundraising**

* Paginated fundraising rounds — round name, announcement date, amount raised
  in USD, valuation and participating investors — filterable by project, date
  window and round size, for rounds announced from 2018 onward
* Batch export of investor records with portfolio, investment overview,
  cheque-size distribution, sector breakdown and team

**Rankings and indices**

* Top 300 projects by the RootData Growth Index, a composite of fundamental
  momentum
* Top 100 projects by the RootData Hot Index over the past 1 or 7 days — what
  the market is paying attention to
* Trending projects on X by heat, influence and follower count; the most
  popular crypto figures on X
* Perpetual-contract exchange leaderboard scored on contracts listed, open
  interest and turnover change, order book depth, spread, funding rate and
  fee rates

**Ecosystems, tags, calendar and people moves**

* Ecosystem dictionary and projects by ecosystem (Ethereum, Solana, Base and
  others); tag dictionary and projects by tag or sector (DeFi, RWA, DePIN and
  others)
* Crypto calendar — token unlocks, mainnet launches, airdrops, conferences,
  AMAs — filterable by project, date range and event type
* Recent hires and departures across tracked crypto organisations
* Follow-graph detail for one X account over the past 14 days — who it
  followed and unfollowed, who followed and unfollowed it — plus its most
  influential followers
* Incremental sync: projects, VCs, people and financing records changed
  within a time window

## How to use it

Pass the request in plain language and let the router pick the tool:

```text theme={null}
find_tools(q="crypto funding rounds announced this month with investors")
find_tools(q="Solana 生态里的 DePIN 项目")
find_tools(prefix="business/rootdata")    # browse everything from RootData
describe_tool("<returned Provider/Operation>")
execute_tool("<Provider/Operation>", { ...params })
```

Both English and Chinese phrasing work. Always `describe_tool` before
executing — detail lookups take RootData ids that the search tool returns,
some batch exports are billed per record, and the per-call cost is shown
there.

## FAQ

> **How far back does fundraising data go?**
>
> Rounds announced from 2018 onward are available, filterable by date
> window and size. Profiles, indices and leaderboards are fetched at
> request time.

> **How is this different from the crypto category's Projects and funds page?**
>
> That page is protocol-centric — TVL, fees, tokenomics and fund portfolios
> from Surf and CoinMarketCap. RootData is the business record: fundraising
> rounds with valuations, investor and people profiles, ecosystem and tag
> dictionaries, hiring moves and a crypto calendar.

> **Can I keep a local copy in sync?**
>
> Yes. The updated-entities tool returns every project, VC, person and
> financing record that changed in a time window, so a mirror can refresh
> incrementally instead of re-reading everything.
